Amy Thrall Flynn, Agent, Aevitas Creative Management

Amy Thrall Flynn is a Senior Agent with Aevitas Creative Management. She started her career as an editor with the former Houghton Mifflin Books for Children in Boston before joining Rubin Pfeffer Content as an agent in 2019. A graduate of Middlebury College with a major in American Literature and a minor in Spanish, she holds an M.A. in English and a M.A. in Children’s Literature from Simmons University. Amy represents writers and illustrators of fiction and nonfiction, from board books and picture books through work for readers up to age 16. Of particular interest are read-aloud picture books, innovative nonfiction with ties to classroom learning, and middle grade both magical and realistic. Above all, she is passionate about books that support young people in learning about themselves and making sense of the world. She looks for fresh perspectives, propulsive storytelling with clear stakes, and authentic and vulnerable characters who make mistakes and grow. She enjoys exploration of emotions of all sorts including humor, triumph, and joy as well as challenge, conflict, and grief. When reading new submissions, Amy asks “How does this connect with the lives of children?

Amy will provide WRITTEN-ONLY critiques

Amy will provide 10 written only critiques for illustration portfolios, picture books, middle grade, young adult. If you purchase one of Amy's critiques, you will need to prepare the following:

Genre – fiction, nonfiction, historical fiction, realistic, mystery, biographies/memoirs, informational, humorous, STEM/STEAM

Picture Books - send one complete picture book manuscript, no more than 800 words as a PDF file.

Novels - send 10 pages of the manuscript and a one-page synopsis for your better understanding of the work as a whole in one PDF file. Note: the 10 pages do not include the synopsis.

Portfolios - send a portfolio link to your online portfolio.

Your critique materials will need to be received no later than Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Post-Conference Submission Opportunity

Amy will accept submissions from attendees following the conference beginning Monday, November 16, 2026, to Saturday, January 16, 2027.

She is open to submissions the following categories and genres.

Category – illustration portfolios, picture books, middle grade, young adult

Genre – fiction, nonfiction

Attendees may submit their manuscripts and portfolios. Specific instructions will be provided at the conference.
