Dinner, Party and Mass Book Launch

18:30 – 23.00 pm       


This year’s party is taking place at MMU, the main conference venue.


Dinner and one glass of wine or juice on arrival is INCLUDED in your conference delegate ticket, thereafter it will be a cash bar.


Time to let your hair down! Arrive at 6.30pm for a welcome drink and network with fellow SCBWI members, the conference faculty and guests from the children’s book world.

A chance to socialise with other writers and rub shoulders with the stellar line-up of industry professionals attending.


At 7.30pm we’ll sit down to a delicious three course meal. It will then be a time to celebrate as we present the Crystal Kite award and applaud the latest crop of SCBWI books during the Mass Book Launch.

 

And of course, we haven’t forgotten the cake, which will be another showstopping creation!

 

Dressing up for the party is now very much a thing, and this year’s theme is WONDERFUL BOOK CHARACTERS. With such a wide theme anything goes, whether it’s a small nod or a full-blown costume! However, please don’t feel you have to look silly to come – smart evening wear is a very acceptable alternative.

Mass Book Launch 2023

 

What exactly is a Mass Book Launch and what happens on the night?


It’s a bit like a debutante ball for writers, to celebrate our publishing successes. There will be a video presentation of the creatives who have published in the last three years. If you would like your book to be included please look out for the email blast that will be sent to all our members in September with a link to a form that must be filled in by the deadline.

Not had a book published this year? The party is still for you and will include dinner, drinks and some pitching fun as well as the Crystal Kite Awards announcement.
