SCBWI Illinois Recording: Working with a Publishing Co-Op with Sandra Macek

The Far North Suburban Network presents Sandra Macek, as she discusses her journey through a hybrid publishing experience referred to as a "publishing co-op". Snowy Wings Publishing is an author-run publisher focused on providing authors with a team that supports and boosts each other, while also enabling each author flexibility and independence. Sandra Macek is the author of the young adult sci-fi series the Scorched Earth, which includes the novels Kindling (2024), Flare (2025), Magma (early 2026) and Firestorm (targeted for 2027). After completing a degree in rhetoric, she dreamed of becoming a novelist; instead she got a job so she could eat. Now she’s an IT professional by day and a writer by night—surviving suburbia on a continuous diet of girl-power fiction. She's a member of SCBWI and Chicago Writers Association. She facilitates a critique group through her local library and enjoys several book clubs. Given the chance to be anyone else, she’d be Buffy, Bella or any woman in Paris.
