Let's get those query letters in shape!

Query Letter Workshop:

**Limited to 15 Michigan Premium & Preview Members. First come, first served.**

$60 for Premium Members; $85 for Preview Members

This three-part workshop is designed to help you learn how to craft and revise a query letter.

Step One: Literary agent, Sera Rivers will show you how to level up your query letters in her webinar:

Seeking Representation: Next Level Querying.

When: February 11, 2026 7:00-8:00pm (est)

***This webinar is part of the workshop. Please do not register for it if you register for the workshop.***

Step Two: You will have a few weeks to write a query letter that you will then turn in for brief feedback from Sera. Revise again! Then turn it back in to get ready for...

Step Three: We will meet for a two-hour live feedback session with Sera. She will read each revised query letter and will provide further suggestions for improvement should there be any.


Timeline:

February 11, 7:00 pm (est): Webinar, "Seeking Representation: Next Level Querying" is part of the workshop

March 3: Participant queries are due.

March 31: Sera sends back brief assessment of queries (2-3 sentences)

April 8:  Participants' revised queries are due.

April 25, 10:00am-12:00pm (est): Two-hour webinar with live feedback about revised queries

Sera Rivers

Sera Rivers (she/her) is a Literary Agent at Speilburg Literary, an AALA member, and a writer. She represents books for the children’s and adult markets and is especially interested in inclusive narratives. She welcomes queries by children’s authors and illustrators who identify as BIPOC, LQBTQIA+ and other underrepresented and marginalized identities and cultures. She holds an MFA in writing for children from Simmons University. Prior to agenting, she was an editor in educational publishing. She lives in Connecticut with her partner and their island rescue pups Jett and Marty. Sera is open to adult fiction the first 7 days of each month.
