Picture Book Intensive, April 3, 2027, 9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (PT) Creating Picture Books: A Visual Storytelling Journey with Priscilla Burris, Author/Illustrator
Apr 03, 2027
Online event
This intensive welcomes illustrators, authors and author-illustrators. From doodles, sketches and scribbled words to the final art and text stages and all that can happen in between, we will walk through the creative process in the development of characters and their stories, ending up in their own picture books! Come on this journey with me and my characters and glean from our editing and revision experiences. I will show you some twists and turns and peaks and valleys that are all part of this inspiring path in creating picture books. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit either a full PB text, a PB Dummy with text and art (sketches only), or 3 images that are a narrative sequence (visual storytelling) appropriate for picture books for Priscilla to chose a few to incorporate into her presentation. She will identified the work's strengths and offer constructive suggestions for improvement and the attendee will have an opportunity to ask/answer questions.
We will send a Constant Contact email with the Zoom access link to attendees on the Thursday before the event. The Zoom access link will also be displayed on each member's homepage under "My Events." On the Tuesday after the event, we will send a Constant Contact email with the recording link and any applicable submission guidelines.
