I was born in Brooklyn and have been writing since early childhood. For a long while, I thought I’d become a journalist, but it turns out I was too shy to interview anyone! Still I kept writing and had a number of articles published in local papers. I taught for ten years and in between making lesson plans and grading papers, I continued to write stories and poems, first for my students, then for my nephews and my own children. In 2003, my first children book was published.
I believe that each of us can make a difference and am drawn to stories of the disenfranchised and voiceless. Each of my books reflect a deep love and compassion for our troubled planet and a sincere desire to engage my readers in stories which will broaden their world view and help create a more just society.
