Catherine Matthias was an outdoor child—biking, swimming, endless nights of tag, hide-and-seek, and touch football. Her book reading occurred at night, snuggled in bed, the light on past midnight, telling herself, “Just one more chapter.” Her love of picture books began when she was in her early twenties, playing in a a room full of 2 and 3 year-olds at a preschool in Cheltenham, PA.
Catherine lives in rural Joseph, Oregon, near the foot of the beautiful Wallowa Mountains with her husband, Stewart Jones, a snuggly gray tabby named Mica, and a shy black cat named Jade.
She is presently working with artist Joan Gilbert on a picture book about a mischievous orange tabby named Jake, and a series of books about two bunny brothers.
