I've been writing children's books and magazine articles since 1986, when I started working as an editor at Children's Television Workshop on Kid City (formerly Electric Company) magazine after several years working as an editor at various publishing houses.I mainly write nonfiction and count among my clients National Geographic Kids, Reader's Digest Books for Kids, Highlights, Facts on File, Macmillan, Audubon, and Zaner-Bloser.Currently I am employed as an editor at Jump Start Press, a development house for the elementary-school educational-publishing market. My interests in addition to writing include reading (as you might guess!), doodling, gardening, birding, baking (if I baked four and twenty blackbirds in a pie I could combine the latter two), crafting, drinking coffee, walking, and gardening. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and a dog. We used to have a horse, too. Now we just have all his saddles, hoof polish, and stuff.
