As a child, Juan was passionate about two things: Art and books. But he didn’t realize until many years later and after his degree in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca (Spain), that he could combine both these passions into one art form. Soon after, Juan discovered the art of Chris Van Allsburg, and many other childrens’ artists and story tellers.Juan has illustrated many universal classics including The Man Who Planted Trees and The Quixote. His books, Grandpa’s Suitcase and However Small It Seems, have been recognized with the International Picture Book Award ‘Ciutat de Benicarló’ (Spain) in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Juan has also illustrated books for notable authors Gonzalo Moure (Cervantes Chico 2017 award) and Wenxuan Cao (Hans Christian Andersen 2016 award).
