WINDSWEPT, Kate Hancock's first novel for fourth to eighth, grade, published by Sunstone Press, is still dear to her heart, and a sequel is in the works. But since publishing it, she has joined forces with illustrator Lane Gregory to create and self- publish three children's books: The Roses on the Wallpaper; Spotless, published by her company Stanzalone Books, and soon, Fraidy Cat .She has also written a young adult novel, The Baggage Car, published by Archway. Additionally,She has written for the theater, including. scripts and lyrics for dozens of plays and musicals for children and several pieces for adult audiences including two plays: A Visit Home and Daylillies; and and lyrics/co- book for two musicals; The Playboy of The Western World, and So Nice To Come Home To, both with composer and co-book writer Richard B. Evans; and lyrics for Lighthouse Point, book by Rick Herrick and music by Ben Willlmott.She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the Dramatists Guild and an alumna of the Lehman Engel- BMI Musical Theater Workshop for composers and lyricists.In addition to her writing, she taught 4th and 5th grade for 16 years, and she was a professional stage manager for over 35 years. She holds Masters Degrees in Education and Theater History and Criticism. She lives on the island of Martha's Vineyard.
