About

I am a writer/illustrator in New York’s Hudson Valley. I studied in London at Chelsea School of Art and Design, graduated from Parsons School of Design, and now I serve as the Regional Advisor for SCBWI Eastern New York. I co-moderate our SCBWI social media accounts and I have launched our READ LOCAL program—networking local authors with librarians, booksellers, and readers in our region. I have been a website designer, a bookkeeper, and a business consultant, but my favorite job title is “Aunt K” to five adorable nieces and nephews. My picture book, THE BIGGEST, HIGHEST WAVE, comes out May 1st, 2025! You can connect with me on: IG/Threads/Cara @kerrymcquaide @kerrymcquaide.bsky.social‬
