My storytelling roots are deeply seated in my Cajun ancestry. As a native of New Orleans, La., I grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River, surrounded by people who never needed a reason to celebrate life. A desire to share their stories led me to become a writer. I am a former newspaper reporter who has run my own freelance writing and editing business since 2006, but my lifelong goal of writing children's literature led me to SCBWI in 2018. Since becoming the Midsouth region's co-RA in 2024, I'm focused on continuing its great legacy of building community among its many talented and creative members. I live in Knoxville, where I'm focused on publishing my first novel, a YA historical fiction that's true to my roots.
