Marcela was born in Rio de Janeiro and spent her childhood between the beach and her grandparents’ farm. She moved to London as a teenager and had to quickly get to grips with a whole new language (tough times!). Being bilingual means a joyful interest in tongue twisting stories, and how country and culture affect the tales we tell. So far, Marcela has written four picture books (The Queen Next Door, The Treasure, Bear Vs Dragon and I Could be Eaten by a Shark) – but hopes to write many more! She loves writing about friendship, growth and being yourself – or anything that makes her laugh! She lives in London with her husband, two children and a pair of rescued cats.
