About

Astronomy teacher by day, writer by night--or is it the other way around? I've been teaching astronomy, physics, and writing at Smith College since 1999. My first book, SKY GAZING, came out in October 2020 from Storey Publishing. I've written 30 non-fiction articles for CRICKET, ASK, FACES, ODYSSEY, MUSE, COBBLESTONE, DIG, and HIGHLIGHTS. In addition to articles astronomy, I've written about psychology, physics, marine biology, urban myths, and wastewater treatment. In addition to feature articles, I write scientist profiles, infographics, and experiments kids can do with common household objects. In the spare time I have left, I sing, knit, swim, and spend as much time as possible with my family.
