Sarita grew up in the Northwest Arctic Borough of Alaska where cold winter months led to lots of drawing indoors. She loves soft, warm color palettes, whimsical compositions, and stories with quirky, humorous characters. She currently resides in Hawaii, where she can do everything outside. When she's not illustrating books, she's teaching art classes at the park, working on creative projects with her kids in their art room, or pampering the family pet: an aged guinea pig named Pickles Yamamoto. She is represented by Lara Perkins of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency.
