About

In 1999, I had just completed medical school and was looking forward to a career in pediatrics when I was derailed due to my own life-threatening illness. Seven years and one coma later, I became a mother of two miraculous children and eventually decided to turn to my childhood dream of writing books to help children realize what matters most in life - them. My first picture book, CAN U SAVE THE DAY (Sleeping Bear Press), released in August, 2019. My second, LISTEN: How One Deaf Girl Changed Percussion (Dial), comes out in spring, 2022. I've also been published several times in CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL, been featured in several podcasts, and have won several awards including HM for Best Picture Book at SCBWI (Midsouth) and first place in the WOW! Women on Writing non-fiction essay contest. I'm thrilled to be represented by Allison Remcheck of Stimola Literary Studio.
