Meet & Pitch: Agent Kayla Cichello

Hooray! 2025 marks our third year of the Small Regions Meet & Pitch series! This is a series of Zoom events that a group of smaller SCBWI regions – Alaska, Hawaii, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico and Washington (NW Inland) and Brazos Valley, TX, among others -- are collaborating on to bring notable agents and editors to our regional members. The 90-minute format will follow an introduction of the agency, manuscript wishlist, Q&A, and a pitch session/first look from participants.

Kayla Cichello is an agent at Upstart Crow Literary specializing in children’s literature from picture books through young adult. She is searching for those voices that make her laugh and keep the page turning. Some of her clients include Lupe Ruiz-Flores, author of THE PECAN SHELLER (Lerner) and Kirbi Fagan, author/illustrator of THE BIG EMPTY (Lerner) and illustrator of the New York Times Bestselling A HORSE NAMED SKY (Greenwillow/HarperCollins, 2023).
