DON’T WRITE IN RHYME! (but if you insist, at least do it right) with Chris Van Dusen

A workshop in how to write good verse,

even though you probably shouldn’t.

Date: 8/10/23 5 pm (17:00) CT

$15 for Premium Members

$50 for Registered Members

This webinar is for those of us who long to write picture books in rhyme even though we are constantly cautioned not to. Unfortunately, even Chris Van Dusen thinks we shouldn’t! But here’s your chance to learn from a master!

Famous for the Mr. Magee series, the If I Built Series, The Circus Ship, Big Truck Little Island, and more, CHRIS VAN DUSEN is a master storyteller in rhyme. After graduating with his BFA from The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth Chris became a waiter, like we all do; but eventually, he began a freelance illustration career specializing in children’s art with publications in Nickelodeon, Family Fun, and Disney Adventures. Then one day a refrain kept running through his head, “Mr. Magee and his little dog, Dee hopped in the car and drove down to the sea.” This niggled at his brain until he put it and illustrations to paper. His first book, Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee, was published in 2000, and he’s been busy writing and illustrating children’s books ever since.

Chris lives with his lovely wife, Lori, and a yellow lab, Opal, in a beautiful little town on the coast of Maine. He has two grown sons. You can find out more about Chris and his work at https://www.chrisvandusen.com/.

This approximately 90-minute webinar will be recorded, but you MUST register BEFORE the webinar to view the recording. Registered attendees will be able to view the recording for 30 days following the webinar date.
