Congratulations, Elizabeth Cooley, on her publication success.

My name is Elizabeth Cooley, and this past February, I self-published my first children's book called, "Deserts Grow Veggies?" I live in Yuma, Arizona, and my book is about a young girl named Lucy who lives in frosty Minnesota, and she begins to wonder where all of her green, leafy vegetables come from during the winter months. After Lucy researches where her produce comes from, she learns that the majority of her vegetables are grown in the Arizona desert, specifically Yuma!

“Deserts Grow Veggies?” is a vibrant story teaching children and adults that 90% of U.S. vegetables are grown in our beloved city of Yuma during the winter months.

I am a University of Arizona graduate, and a former elementary school teacher having taught in both Yuma and in Seattle, Washington. I am a self-published author, and my book has bright and creative illustrations depicting our Yuma agricultural landscape.

I am so excited to share this book with not only my community but with the rest of our state! My book is written specifically for school-aged children so they can understand the agricultural contributions that Yuma provides to our country and also throughout the world.

Congratulations, Cynthia Bordelon, on the release of her latest book.

The book, Tangled Webs, launched on Amazon on May 16, 2024. It's the second book in the Sara Full of Wonder series.

In the book, Sara has a magical encounter with a mother oak tree who shows her the beauty and balance of the forest ecosystem and the importance of living in a community where we can connect with others. The book introduces emerging readers (ages 5-8) to the plants and animals that live in the forest ecosystem and can be used as a tool for teachers and librarians, introducing scientific principles to young students. The book includes a glossary of terms and resources as well as blank coloring pages.

Congratulations, Tina McDougall on publishing her first book.

I self-published my 1st children's book in June. After several attempts at traditional publishers, I found a great illustrator and we published the book together on KDP Amazon.

I have been a member of SCBWI on and off for 12+ years and always appreciated the support of fellow authors.
