Watercolour Workshop

The watercolour workshop was present by our very own Sarah Allen. All the participants enjoyed experimenting with watercolour and learning to use some new techniques and materials. Sarah is an expert in her field and had some great samples of her work to demonstrate how the materials reacted on different paper. The morning was a great get together and we appreciate her hard work preparing for the event.

Illustration Exhibition at Open Window

Perhaps the biggest highlight of all three  was an Illustration exhibition. This was our first exhibition in a long time and we have to thank Open Window Institute for their wonderful support in organising and setting up the event, as well as sponsoring the printing of the banners and the opening night. A number of our members exhibited along with Open Window illustration students. The exhibition was entitled Pages in Progress and showed the creative process behind illustrating a picture book as well as the finished picture book articles. The opening evening and month-long exhibit that followed were very well attended. Over the past few months our wonderful ARA, Yvette, has been working hard to reestablish a presence for SCBWI in Gauteng. She has orchestrated two events, all of which were generously hosted by Open Window Institute in Centurion.
