Here's your chance to improve your craft with some professional help. Sign up for our Critique Fall Fair with agents, editors, and art directors. It's completely online and asynchronous. Select your faculty, submit your materials, and receive your written critique. $75/critique for SCBWI premium members, $100/critique for non-members. REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW! SUBMISSION GUIDELINES BELOW. *DATE EXTENDED* ALL MATERIALS ARE DUE BY 11:59 PM, 9/25/25, OR YOUR WORK WILL NOT BE CRITIQUED (NO REFUNDS). *IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD A 2ND (OR 3RD) CRITIQUE, PLEASE EMAIL [email protected] WITH THE SUBJECT LINE - CRITIQUE FALL FAIR - 2ND CRITIQUE. FALL CRITIQUE FEST 2025 Written Manuscript Critiques and Portfolio Submission Guidelines Written critiques will be completed by members of our faculty. (See faculty bios for genre/age range preferences). Spots fill up quickly, so register early. ***DATE EXTENDED*** Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 pm on 9/25/2025 or your work will not be critiqued (no refunds). SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Submissions that don’t adhere to guidelines will not be accepted. Manuscripts: One single file − in MS WORD; double-spaced; 12 pt Times New Roman or Arial; 1” margins − that includes: Cover letter Include your contact information and genre. Three to four paragraphs are typical. Describe what you hope to get out of the critique (e.g., help with characterization; plot suggestions; developing a catchy opening). Synopsis (if applicable) Only for longer works; Synopsis not applicable for PBs. One page. You may use single-spacing for the synopsis if preferred. Manuscript Name, contact information, genre of work, and word count at the top of the page. The title begins halfway down your page. (This means you only have 10-12 lines of text on your initial manuscript page.) Picture books: Submit entire manuscript. Note, typical picture books are generally about 500 words. Longer works (non PB): Submit first 10 double-spaced manuscript pages (even if it cuts off mid-chapter). Art Portfolio / Dummy: First file − in MS WORD; double-spaced; 12 pt Times New Roman or Arial; 1” margins −− that includes: Cover letter. Include your contact information. Three to four paragraphs are typical. Describe what you hope to get out of the critique. Second file − in PDF − that includes: Art Portfolio or Dummy. E-Mail submissions to [email protected]. No refunds will be given on critiques.
