Serious about improving your craft? SCBWI's regional events provide opportunities for professional growth and help you connect with a supportive, creative community.
Each month SCBWI Houston brings you a guest speaker along with our monthly check-in. It normally falls on the first Monday of the month. Be sure to check schedule to see if the meeting is in-person, virtual, or hybrid (both). Register each month to ensure you are updated.
Join your fellow creatives to work together in a motivating ONLINE setting with optional challenge prompts and music or you can mute us while you work in solitude knowing your people are working too! This is a great opportunity to build your accountability group, make friends and get projects accomplished!
Transform a Tuesday evening into a creative adventure! Our unique set of prompts will surprise you with where your imagination can go in just 30 minutes of quiet creation. Then spend another 30 minutes connecting with other writers and artists as you share what you've discovered. It's creativity, community, and inspiration all in one hour. Mark your calendar for the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm CST. We'll be waiting with the same Zoom link each month! Scroll down to learn more...
Voice is a tricky thing, perhaps one of the slipperiest elements to develop in our writing—easy for readers to identify, but tough for writers to develop. Any editor will tell you that she knows a distinct writer’s voice when she hears it, especially when it draws her into a story and keeps her there. Be ready to actively participate in the discussion. We will also do some writing practice, so have pencil and paper or laptop.
Registration wraps up on Aug 26th. If you have any questions or want to join the waitlist email Annie at [email protected]
Does the Artist need an Artist Date? Join us for a one day roadtrip to historic and beautiful Columbus, TX. We will enjoy some Vitamin D from the sun and unlikely places to find inspiration for your Kid Lit projects as well as chat with a few Published Illustrators to get their best tips!
