Practical Tips and Behind the Scenes of the Children’s Book Fair. Get Ready for Next Year! Join publisher Michael Leventhal of Green Bean Books, Shirley Waisman (RA), and Niyati Froind (IC) for a panel packed with practical insights for Bologna 2027. From top tips for finding a publisher to what illustrators and writers can actually gain from attending, we’ll cover what to bring, when to book travel and accommodation, who goes, and whether it’s actually fun. You’ll also hear directly from a publisher—what Michael looks for and how to approach him—with an optional opportunity to submit a personal critique (PB manuscripts only).

While we often spend a lot of time writing a story, the shape of that story on the page can sometimes be an afterthought. And yet, typography tells a story too. Font choices, placement, and the shape of words can relay as much meaning as the words themselves. In this workshop, we’ll investigate how to make sure your story is being told through the proper typographic treatment.

Join our new English-speaking volunteer, Sara Kaltmann, for a monthly Tuesday evening "Writing Club". Each session will focus on a children’s book built around a theme or concept. We’ll explore what makes it special, respond to a related creative prompt, spend time writing, and finish with an open sharing session. The program is in English.
