Clare Vanderpool Promising Novel Scholarship

Clare Vanderpool Promising Novel Scholarship

In honor of the 2011 Newbery winner and SCBWI Kansas member, Clare Vanderpool, we are offering a scholarship to the fall 2024 Virtual KSMO Middle of the Map Conference to be held November 2 for a promising middle grade or young adult novel.  Graphic novels and chapter books are considered (text only) as long as you, the writer, identify the content as for an audience older than picture-book age. The scholarship provides free conference registration.

The scholarship is available to SCBWI members who are not previously published by a publisher on the PAL list in this format (picture book) who are members of the Kansas-Missouri Region. Applications are open June 1-30, 2024!

SCBWI Kansas/Missouri will notify the winner in August.

Please note: Scholarship recipients are not eligible for future scholarships. Further, while authors may apply for all scholarship and mentorship opportunities, if the same person wins more than one contest, the winner will be asked to select their top choice ONLY. By applying for scholarships or contests, if you win, you agree to be a judge the following year in that category.
