Manuscript Consultation Information

Written critiques are available from faculty for $55. You will receive written feedback through an evaluation “Gold Form” which highlights your manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses.

Deadline to register for a consultation and submit material:

Northern VA workshops: Sept 27th. Registrants will receive their written feedback the week of Oct 28th.

Charlottesville workshops: Oct 11th. Registrants will receive their written feedback the week of Nov 11th.

When you register, you will be able to choose your reviewer. To reserve a spot, you must first register AND email your manuscript. (Instructions for emailing are below.)

Failure to follow the instructions below may mean missing out on your consultation. No refunds will be given.

Once your registration is complete, email your review materials to midatlanticscbwiconsults@gmail.com by the deadline per these instructions:

Please email the first 10 pages of your manuscript and synopsis, if necessary (see below), as ONE document:

•  Your 10 pages should be double spaced and in 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font. Please see FORMATTING GUIDELINES* below for further details, if necessary.

•  You must name your WORD DOC or .DOCX using the following format:

•  Title_FullName_Genre.doc, i.e.: TheHungerGames_SuzanneCollins_YA.doc

•  Please make sure your name and email is at the top of the first page of your document.

•  For chapter books, MG, and YA please include a brief synopsis. The synopsis does not count as part of the 10 page limit, but it must be included as part of ONE document. (PB submissions, including NF PBs, do not need to include a synopsis.)

•  In the subject line of your email place the name of your reviewer first, followed by your name, the name of your book, and the genre, i.e.: Sara Sargent_Suzanne Collins_THE HUNGER GAMES_YA.

*FORMATTING GUIDELINES: Manuscripts should be double spaced and with 12 point Arial or Times New Roman. All submissions must include your contact information on the first page.

For picture books, submit the complete text of ONE picture book.

For chapter books and novels, submit only the first 10 pages, even if it cuts off mid-chapter. Include a one-page, single-spaced synopsis as part of the document. (The document will be 11 pages total because of the synopsis.)

Manuscripts received after the deadline will not be forwarded to reviewers. All submissions are final. Once you send in your pages you may not send in updates.
