Our Virtual Hobnobs rotate between two main formats: Tip Potlucks and Member Spotlights.
Member Spotlight
In this one- to two-hour casual chat, authors and illustrators discuss their works, creative process, book distribution and or present on a multitude of children’s book-related topics.
AND
Tip Potluck
In this two-hour event, bring a quick tip, lesson, or resource you find valuable to share with your fellow kid-lit creators. Sharing knowledge about our craft is the best way to grow as artists! But don't worry if you don't have something to share, you are still welcome to come and learn.
Please note: There is no requirement to share a tip at these gatherings. They serve as conversation starters with some very interesting discussions spinning off from them. But you don't need to be an expert to share a tip. We're all in this crazy realm of kid-lit creation together. If you have found even the tiniest thing that has inspired, motivated, or helped you in the slightest way, it's probably worth sharing.
The second half of the meeting will be a light social hour, where we can introduce ourselves, get to know one another, and connect across the state and beyond! If there are lots of attendees we may open separate breakout rooms to allow us all to mix more closely.

If you would like the opportunity to talk about the process of a book you have created, a lesson you've learned, present an art tutorial, discuss issues and happenings in the publishing world, or go more in depth about your creative journey; we're open to hosting you for a future virtual hobnob. If you have something you want to say, we want to hear from you!
If you are interested in presenting for a future hobnob, please email any of our regional team members, RA Jodi Hausen, ARA Santral Lusin, or IC Jeanne Bowman. Please use the subject line VIRTUAL HOBNOB SPEAKER.
