Pub: TP | Book Types: PB, MG | Genres: F, NF | Grades: LE, UE, MS | Visit Range: ME | I fell in love with stories as a young girl. There's nothing more fun for me than putting words together to make stories come alive. While I was raising my two sons I had four nonfiction picture books published: histories of beds, hairstyles, candy, and finally, underwear. I loved the research hunt to find the most interesting and accurate information. Later, while I was teaching English Language Learners in an elementary school, I turned to middle grade fiction. ONE GOOD THING ABOUT AMERICA is the story of a fourth-graders's first year in an American school with all the crazy, wacky misunderstandings that come while navigating the English Language. HOW TO SAVE A SUPERHERO was next. It's the story of two lost people who find each other in a retirement community: a girl and a grumpy old resident who has very unusual powers. I have several more stories in the works, one about a small island I visit in the summer. When I'm not playing with my grandsons, reading, baking, or knitting, I'm usually walking somewhere in beautiful Maine.
