SCBWI San Francisco South is proud to host many free monthly meetups for our regional members, thanks to our crew of dedicated volunteers. Check out our newsletter or email [email protected] for more information on any of these events.
Monthly Illustrators’ Meetup
We invite you to join other SCBWI SF/South illustrators via Zoom to talk shop, share your work, and get feedback in a warm, friendly environment. Every first Saturday of the month. Register here!
SF Middle Grade Book Club
Calling all middle grade writers! We read and analyze a middle grade novel each month with the goal of improving our craft. We also discuss the middle grade book world. Every first Tuesday of the month.
Weekly "Write-In" Meet Up
Set aside some time each week to sit and write (or draw, or paint) with fellow creators via Zoom. We spend the first 15 minutes setting goals, and the next 45 minutes focusing on our individual projects while connected together via Zoom (on mute). Every Saturday morning EXCEPT the first Saturday of the month.
Indie Publishing Meet-Up
Would you like to connect with other writers and illustrators within our region who are interested in independent (self) publishing? If your answer is yes, please join us! Every second Tuesday of the month.
Picture Book Critique Meet Up
Join us via Zoom for an evening of picture book critiques. Receive feedback on your craft and hone your skills by critiquing others.
Translators' Meet Up
Calling all translators! We invite you to join other SCBWI SF/South translators via Zoom to talk shop, share your work, and get feedback in a supportive, friendly environment.
Novel Critique Meet Up
Join us via Zoom for an evening of MG and YA critiques. Receive feedback on your craft and hone your skills by critiquing others. We will critique a max of 1,000 words for each participant: please be prepared to share a brief section of a novel (perhaps the opening).
The Craft of Picture Books Club (SF)
Calling all San Francisco area picture book enthusiasts! Each month we take a close look at a different book and discuss ideas which might help us improve our own work. Every third Thursday of the month.
