Cynthia De La Torre was born and raised in Southern California. She writes and illustrates cut-paper art picture books that teach kids about self-acceptance, finding their place in the world, and accepting other people’s differences. She loves all things weird, whimsical, and magical. She is also the former Illustrator Coordinator for our SoCal region. Her debut picture book: Flowers for Tia Luz Maria launches on July 21.
Typically we meet the second Saturday of the month. (No meeting in July due to SCBWI's national summer conference).
Cynthia shares a behind the scenes look at all the ups and downs that led her to finally achieving her life-long dream of becoming a published author/illustrator. Cynthia will share all the resources that helped her develop into a stronger author and illustrator, as well as her publishing experience with her debut picture book: Flowers for Tia Luz Maria. Her book launches on July 21 and you can order it HERE. She will also sell and sign books after her presentation.
