We are a thriving community of writers, illustrators and translators and we welcome anyone with a professional interest in children's publishing. We hold meetings in Cape Town and Gauteng as well as hosting regular online meetings to allow members from across the country to participate. Meetings include critique sessions, illustrating and writing workshops, opportunities to develop your craft and presentations by editors of publishing houses and other experts from the publishing industry. Whether you're published or an aspiring writer or illustrator, our regular meetings and enthusiastic whatsapp groups provide the support and advice you are looking for in a warm and welcoming environment. To be eligible for our monthly Featured Illustrator Spotlight please make sure you are a paid up South Africa member and have at least 3 portfolio pieces in your profile.
Illustrator and Writer Zoom Meet-ups
Our South African SCBWI illustrators meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 10:30am SAST via Zoom. To join, please contact our Illustrator Coordinator, Emily House.
Our South African SCBWI writers meet bi-monthly via Zoom. For more information and to join, please contact our Regional Advisor, Elaine Ridge at southafrica-ra@scbwi.org.
