“I could do that!”
Perhaps you’ve seen a member hosting an online event, or working during a conference and thought, “I could do that.” Well, you’re right! Southern Breeze has become a vibrant SCBWI region thanks to our energetic volunteers. Like all SCBWI regions, even our leaders are volunteers. It takes many people to help Southern Breeze continue to offer top-notch conferences, contests, and multiple opportunities to boost the careers of our members. If you’re interested in helping, great! Volunteering your talents, efforts and time, is a wonderful way to “give back” to the organization. Below are just a few possibilities.

Local Liaisons
Some of our geographic regions still don’t have local liaisons. If you’d like to fill this role, email southern-breeze@scbwi.org and tell us a little about yourself. Perks for this include building your local community of writers, illustrators, and translators, plus a discount to the regional conference. Requirements include hosting at least one event, critique group, or social gathering each year (in person or online).
Ongoing Opportunities
Southern Breeze’s regional Equity and Inclusion Team is currently on hiatus. Once we have direction from SCBWI, we hope to resume meeting monthly via Zoom. If you would like to join this group in developing inclusion initiatives to help Southern Breeze reach more of the children’s creators in our diverse region, please let us know at southern-breeze@scbwi.org.
