ART CALL : Create a Visual Identity for Our Region!

The Southern Breeze region of SCBWI invites member illustrators to submit artwork for use in our chapter’s digital and print media — including our website, event materials, social media banners merch, and other regional promotions. Artwork will be chosen by the Regional Team for use with the reserved right to not select artwork. 

We’re looking for a piece that celebrates the creative spirit and diversity of our Southern Breeze community while aligning with SCBWI’s updated branding guidelines. **NOTE YOU MUST BE A SOUTHERN BREEZE MEMBER AND CURRENT WITH SCBWI


ARTWORK GUIDELINES

Theme: Celebrate children’s literature, the creative process, and the culture of our Southern Breeze region: Georgia, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle.

Tone: Warm, inclusive, imaginative, and professional.

Medium: Digital or traditional art (scanned and submitted digitally). Art by AI will NOT be Accepted!


Format & Specs:

  • See attached link for download of call and templates. You may create your work within more than one template.  

  • Resolution: 300 dpi / Adobe RGB preferred

  • File types: PNG or JPG (*Please retain your layered files for future use)

  • Designs may be cropped, resized, or repositioned for display across various platforms.

  • Text consideration: Please leave ample space for text overlays. (example, conference info)


The selected artist will receive complimentary registration to the 2025 Illustration Intensive in Savannah, GA, along with a paid 15-minute in-person portfolio review with Kelly Pelsue on December 6th. Artist Credit: The artist will be credited in all applicable uses and platforms where the artwork appears.

VIP IMPORTANT BRANDING NOTES

·      Do NOT include or alter the SCBWI logo. The official logo will be added to final designs as needed.

·      You may leave intentional space for the logo placement — for example, in a bottom or top corner — but please do not insert the logo yourself.

·      Do NOT include kites or owls in your artwork.

·      This is not a logo contest — we are looking for regional artwork that visually represents our unique community. See sample templates we will use on the next page.

Southern Breeze SCBWI Conference – Birmingham, AL

The Southern Breeze region of SCBWI invites member illustrators to submit original artwork that embodies our 2026 conference theme: “Seeds of Inspiration.” This artwork will be featured across various conference materials, including the website, printed programs, social media banners, signage and merchandise for our event at the Homewood Public Library in Birmingham, Alabama. Artwork will be chosen by an Art Director/or Editor from our 2026 faculty conference. Southern Breeze reserves the right to not select artwork. **NOTE YOU MUST BE A SOUTHERN BREEZE MEMBER AND CURRENT WITH SCBWI


Reflect on what “Seeds of Inspiration” means to you. Consider elements like growth, creativity, the beginning of ideas, and how these concepts can be visually represented to inspire attendees of our conference.
