POP UP PROCESS TO PRINT: Regional ILLUSTRATION Exhibition for Southern Breeze

This is a PRINTED Regional Exhibition for Southern Breeze Regional PAL Illustrators for Conferences, Libraries, Bookstores, Schools and more.

We are kickstarting a unique "on-demand" print exhibition featuring the artwork of our region’s published and self-published illustrators, made available through the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Southern Breeze Regional Chapter. This is considered an Educational Visual Exhibition and not for profit. We will be creating large banners that are easily displayed for regional conferences, local libraries and schools throughout our region and other visual public opportunities

The exhibition is designed to highlight the creative processes of talented illustrators in our region. Each participating artist will be showcased on a large banner display, which will include:

  • A professional photo of the artist
  • A short bio and link to their website (QR code on banner included)
  • Images showing the progression of their work from Thumbnails and sketches in ideation to the final printed illustration, offering insight into the creative process as a visual display for viewers.
  • SCBWI Southern Breeze Logo and SCBWI Website will appear on the banner

The exhibition will begin with a core group of selected 8-12 volunteer PAL members/illustrators, with plans to expand as more PAL Illustrators desire to participate.

How it works:

  1. Fill out the form online which includes permission to print and display your process work, bio information and illustrations. This includes the "cover" of the book on the banner.
  2. The SCBWI Regional Illustration Coordinator (RIC) will create a banner for each illustrator with the above information.
  3. A participating institution connects and works with the RIC to coordinate files.
  4. The Institution must agree to a one-time-usage agreement for a “one-time non-profit display” and a private no-exchange of files policy. The organization using the display may provide the book from their collection (or obtain it)
  5. We can ship the files to the institution or provide them access to print-ready files for the display boards, allowing flexibility for scheduling and mounting the exhibit at their own location as they desire. The responsibility for costs to print and mount rests with the institution.

This SCBWI Southern Breeze illustration exhibition can easily “pop up” in print form in different institutions throughout the region and offers illustrators an excellent opportunity to promote their work and careers while enriching the creative landscape of Southern Breeze. This Pop-Up Display Exhibit will provide a valuable cultural experience for our region and organization. It will share our professional illustrators in the public without the large overhead of shipping originals, insurance and/or risk of damage.

Note: Each participating Illustrator may also print a banner for their own local regions and events. Files will be provided for your convenience. These banners will be Vinyl and grommeted in 4 corners allowing for easy vertical display. (Size tbd)
