Janet Kelly developed a love for reading and storytelling at an early age. In high school, she worked in her neighborhood library—what she considered the coolest job in town. Janet held onto a dream of writing about her Jamaican heritage and began writing seriously for children in 2023. By sharing stories about her Caribbean culture, she hoped to inspire and empower children to explore the world beyond their own communities.
Serving in her community profoundly shaped her personal life. Through her first volunteer opportunity at a Southern Breeze intensive, she fell in love with the organization and was immediately hooked. She believes that our time and presence matter wherever we are and hopes to foster a strong sense of belonging among Southern Breeze members.
