Alicia Klepeis loves to research fun and out-of-the-ordinary topics that bring the world to young readers. She began her career at the National Geographic Society and taught middle school for many years before becoming a writer. Alicia is now the author of 200+ children’s books, both nonfiction and fiction.

Alicia began her career at the National Geographic Society and is now the author of 200+ children’s books. Her recent nonfiction titles include China, Go Wild! Frogs, Gutsy Girls Go For Science: Astronauts, The History Of Pet Dogs, Penguins & Polar Bears: A Pretty Cool Introduction to the Arctic and Antarctic, The Philadelphia Eagles, and Taylor Swift: Music Industry Leader. In 2022, Alicia spoke about The Science And Technology Of Ben Franklin on PBS Books’ Author Talk for Kids series.
Alicia’s latest fiction work is the wildlife-focused collection Secrets of the Stars: 15 Bedtime Stories Inspired By Nature. The first book in that series, Secrets of the Forest, was named Children’s Book of the Week in The Independent. Her picture book Francisco’s Kites/Las cometas de Francisco was named to the Tejas Star Reading List. A former middle school teacher, Alicia loves doing author visits and regularly presents to kids from PreK – Grade 8. Her programs include Amazing Animals, Making Nonfiction Fun, and Let’s Go There! She is happy to tailor her presentations to a school’s interests and curricula.
