Talking with middle grade students, DJ Brandon discusses the powerful role that “setting” plays in her middle grade verse novel, The Midas Trees.

D.J. Brandon, “Deb,” is a children’s book author, and former nurse, with years of experience working with children in a variety of both health care and educational settings. Currently writing elementary and middle grade fiction, such as West 44 Book's Graveyard Gruber chapter book series and the middle grade verse novels, Tell Me Why the Jack Pine Grows and The Midas Trees. D.J. Brandon enjoys sharing her stories, her craft and her journey with her readers and aspiring young writers. She finds connecting with students in small group settings especially appealing and welcomes the opportunity to meet with both students and teachers.
