Judy Bradbury is an award-winning children’s author and literacy educator whose books open minds and hearts, initiate conversations, and expand possibilities. Her Cayuga Island Kids chapter book series for ages 7-10 includes The Adventure of the Big Fish by the Small Creek, recipient of the Ben Franklin Silver Award for Young Reader’s Fiction. Judy’s Christopher Counts! picture book series for ages 4-7 features embedded math in each story.
Judy’s experiences teaching students from preschool through college inspire her children’s books as well as her resources for educators. Following the column she wrote for LibrarySparks, Judy began the popular Children’s Book Corner blog featuring interviews with authors and illustrators and suggestions for using their books to boost social-emotional learning (SEL) while enhancing curriculum. Judy also published dozens of articles in Children’s Writer and the annual Writer’s Guide. She has taught graduate courses in literacy and writing for children and is a freelance editor and writing consultant. In addition to school visits and writing workshops, Judy presents nationally on topics related to literacy. She served as Coordinator of the Educator Event for the Western New York Children’s Book Expo throughout its run and is currently Literacy Liaison for the Society of Children’s Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Western/Central New York. An advocate for promoting reading through community initiatives, Judy has received awards from the New York State Reading Association (NYSRA) and the Niagara Frontier Reading Council.
