Welcome! SCBWI Wisconsin is an active community of chlldren's book writers, illustrators, and translators living in the US state of Wisconsin. Join SCBWI-WI for an array of inspirational resources, including online and in-person educational events, opportunities to connect with other professionals in the industry, and valuable insights on the art of creating and publishing children's books.

Ingrid Klass won the Young Adult manuscript contest for her novel, Eat My Face. Christy Wopat won the Middle Grade manuscript contest for her novel, The Turner Kid Whisperer. Elaine Beardon won the Picture Book manuscript contest for her book, Sunflower Symphony. Congratulations to all three of these talented authors!

October's Book Buzz celebrates picture book authors Steph Wade and Deb Buschman. The Beyond portion of Book Buzz features Christopher Robique. He will discuss his newest book and its tie to the theme of mental health. Join us on October 22nd.

SE Area: Saturday, November 14th from 10:30-noon at the Muskego Public Library Join Wisconsin author TK Sheffield for a lively, hands-on talk about short pieces of writing that do the most work: the logline, author tagline, and short descriptions. In the spirit of TK's tagline, Stories to Laugh and Escape, she will show how short, sharp sentences can hook an audience or an agent without giving the story away. Expect real examples and time to draft on the page. Come for the conversation; leave with a copy you can use!

The next NE WI SCBWI meeting will be November 7, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the De Pere Library, 300 N Broadway, De Pere, WI. You will spend some time discussing things to think about when naming your characters and then there will be an open discussion on anything writing or illustrating. Will there be more donuts??? You'll have to come to find out.
