Pre-Conference Critique Groups

Want some time to meet with members of your critique group IN-PERSON? Encourage members of your critique group to sign up for the conference. Meet with them on Thursday from 2 - 4 pm in the Brown Room. Make it an actual critique meeting or just a social time.

Area Meetups

The Wisconsin area reps have done a fantastic job of offering in-person and virtual events for writers and illustrators living close to you. Here is another opportunity to meet informally with others living in your area of Wisconsin. Meet new friends. Maybe form a new critique group. Meet ups will take place on Thursday from 2 - 4.

Ask Me Anything with Creatives

Join award-winning Liza Wiemer to ask any question about writing, illustrating, and publishing. A group of creatives experienced in these areas will meet with you in the Stansbury Room at 2:00 on Thursday. Come with lots of curiosity and questions.

Conference Attendees Book Sales

Here's your opportunity to sell your books to other SCBWI members. Set up your books in the Hanson Room to sell from 2-4 on Thursday. Bring along some swag and your best salesmanship skills. Tables will be provided. Contact Joyce Uglow at wisconsin-[email protected] if you would like table space since space is limited.

Not published or don't want to sell your book? Come to browse or buy the books of fellow writers and illustrators. You will be amazed at what you find.

Friday Night Social

The Friday night social will be from 630 - 8:30 pm. There will be a cash bar and cookies for refreshments. The social will include fun, simple mixer activities.

Saturday Wrap-Up

Be sure to hang around for the conference closing ceremony. Get the chance to win a door prize. An award will be given to the manuscript contest winner. Regional advisor, Joyce Uglow will announce new upcoming events in Wisconsin. This will be your final opportunity to say goodbye to old friends and get emails/contact information for new friends. The ceremony will be from 11:00 - 11:45 on Saturday morning.

Found: Creative Surprises

After the keynote speaker, participate in a fun, creative activity. Writers provide one page of your written work and illustrators provide up to three illustrations.

These pieces will be transformed in a Found Poetry/College activity on Thursday evening. We hope to stimulate everyone's creative energy in surprising ways.

Submit your work to Ann Angel ([email protected]) by October 1st.
