Support School Libraries this Giving Tuesday
Get ready to make a difference! Mark your calendars for December 2nd because this Giving Tuesday we are once again putting our energy into supporting school libraries. For so many American children, their first exposure to books happens at their school library. In the pages of these books, they can see themselves, discover the world, and become knowledgeable, caring citizens. Despite their crucial role in students’ education, school libraries are increasingly underfunded, and under attack. This is why the SCBWI Impact and Legacy Fund has chosen to once again support school libraries for our Giving Tuesday Program in 2025. The success of last year’s program tells us that the needs of school libraries touched your hearts as much as it does ours.
Our program All Readers Welcome offers elementary, middle school and high school libraries across the country $1,500 each to purchase books that they would not be otherwise able to purchase. These books, which will be chosen by the librarian and represent the needs of the school community, allow all children to see themselves reflected on the pages of a good book. Every single child has the right to read, and the right to see themselves represented in their reading choices.
Already this literacy-building program has brought over more than 1,700 current books into 37 school libraries, reaching over 31,000 students across the United States. And we need your help to support and uplift school libraries in 2025 and 2026.
Of the Giving Tuesday program, managing director Lin Oliver says:

Giving Tuesday is December 2nd this year. We need your help to fund these school libraries. Every single dollar you donate will go to purchasing books for students across the United States.
