BIPOC Scholarship

For Black, Indigenous and People of Color. Two Grand Prize Winners will receive free tuition to the in-person winter conference. Submissions open October 15 through November 12.

Student Illustrator Scholarship

Conference tuition for full-time university students studying illustration. Two Grand Prize Winners will receive free tuition to the in-person winter conference and be spotlighted in the Portfolio Showcase. Submissions open October 15 through November 12.

Tomie de Paola Mentorship Award for Illustrators

Judges will choose three promising illustrators from the Portfolio Showcase to take part in a personal mentorship program. Applicants must submit work to the Portfolio Showcase.

Narrative Art Award

Given annually to an illustrator who can tell a visual story, through sequential images, with great clarity and nuance. Winner receives tuition to the in-person winter conference. Submissions open through October 31.

Our annual Winter Portfolio Showcase will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 in New York, New York. This award is a career-launching opportunity for children's book illustrators.
