The Convergence of the Twain: When Two Dissimilar Ideas Come Together And a Novel Is Born Learn to generate original novel premises by fusing two unrelated ideas in this generative workshop by award winning author Susan Fletcher.
Susan was inspired to write her most recent novel, Sea Change, when two divergent ideas came together. This has happened to her several times before, and, as it turns out, it’s not unusual with novelists. Susan will talk about her inspiration for Sea Change, and then she will lead a workshop aimed at generating original novel premises by fusing two unrelated ideas.
Susan Fletcher is an author of many books including YA and Middle Grade Novels and Picture Books.
She has Bachelor and Master’ of Arts degrees in English and also taught in Vermont College of Fine Arts’ Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults program. Susan loves presenting to SCBWI and other writing organizations and does workshops for educators. Her most recent book is Sea Change, a “YA science fiction love story about a gill breathing girl who changes herself so she can be with the “normal guy” she adores”.
