How to go about a PB Dummy Review in 5 easy steps
- Use the Faculty page to ensure your preferred faculty member offers PB Dummy Reviews.
- Register for your review. You can select this option when registering OR add a critique/review to an already existing registration.
- Prepare a multipage PDF of your sketched book dummy (32 - 40 page layout)
- One PDF file, only, labeled Last Name, Title, Faculty Name: LastName_Title_Faculty.pdf
- Submit Sunday, July 27th, 2025 – Saturday, Aug 2nd, 2025 at 11:59 pm ET using the submission form found under the MY EVENTS tab of your Member Home. Click the green MEETING INFO button.
PRO TIP: If you make changes to your file after submitting, critique faculty will no longer have the most updated version. These faculty spend time critiquing the version you send, so submit your FINALIZED version and do not make additional changes to your dummy after you submit it. Wait for faculty feedback, that way you can incorporate their feedback into your revisions.
Scheduling
After Critique Registration closes (Aug 2nd), you will receive a link via email to schedule your session. Critiques/Reviews will be held Friday, Sept 19th, 3 pm – 6:15 pm. Check in at the Critique/Review desk 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
- Sessions are booked back to back—if you are late, your session will still end on time
- Missed appointments cannot be rescheduled
- Because we have guaranteed your payment to our faculty, missed appointments cannot be refunded
- Editors and agents provide submission opportunities to all attendees as part of this conference. Do not ask an editor or agent to take your full manuscript or to look at it during the conference.
- Another attendee has paid for the appointment right after yours. Be considerate of this and exit the meeting when time is called.
Questions
Contact our Critique Inbox if you have any questions.
Feeling jittery? That’s totally normal. Check out Linda Sue Park’s advice on receiving critique.
NOTE: Critique/Review faculty are only asked to respond to the SCBWI Gold Form questionnaire.
