Calling all Picture Book Author-Illustrators: Ever wish you could have the same publishing professional look at your dummy a second time? After you made their suggested revisions? Well now you can! Two-Step Critique participants will meet with literary agent Kait Feldmann to discuss their picture book dummy (illustrations and completed manuscript) once in May, then have about 3 months to revise and resubmit for a second round of feedback in September.

Meet the Faculty

About Kait

Kait Lee Feldmann is a children’s book agent at kt literary representing author-illustrators. She has been romping around children’s book publishing for the past decade, previously as an editor at HarperCollins and Scholastic. Her list as editor included award-winning books that received a Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, and Sibert Honor; the Ezra Jack Keats Award; and appearances on Best of lists for The New York Times, NPR, Kirkus, and more. Kait is hapa (mixed race Chinese/white) and is passionate about championing books by, about, and for BIPOC. In 2020 she received the CBC Diversity Outstanding Achievement Award. Kait resides in a hoarder’s paradise in Los Angeles, surrounded by books. When she’s not reading those, she can often be found playing board games, estate sale hopping, or crafting. Please send one picture book dummy (sketches, 1-2 completed pieces of art, and complete manuscript text) and a 2-3 sentence pitch in the same document—by SATURDAY, March 28, 2026. We anticipate feedback to be returned on or about Thursday, April 30, 2026. Please, review this in advance of your Zoom meeting.

Process and Polish...

Use the feedback you receive in Step 1 to revise your PB dummy and pitch before the submission deadline for Step 2.

Send...

Send your revised PB dummy (sketches, 1-2 completed pieces of art, and complete manuscript text) and a 2-3 sentence pitch in the same document—by WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2026. We anticipate feedback to be returned on or about Monday, September 7, 2026. Please, review this in advance of your Zoom meeting.

For all submissions, please send 1 picture book dummy as a .jpg, .png or PDF file (5 MB max). Optional: You may include a 1- to 2-sentence pitch (in the same document)
