Webinar Description: ILLUSTRATOR DAY—LIVE! IN LANCASTER 2026 PARTICIPANTS ARE AUTOMATICALLY REGISTERED FOR THIS EVENT!! Larissa guides participants through the art of using humor as a storytelling superpower in picture book illustration. From cracking character expressions to crafting the perfect visual and text contradictions, you'll learn how strong story moments become comedic gold. RECORDING

The webinar will be recorded, and the recording will be available for one month following the event. Attendees will receive a link and a password by email about two days after the event.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATIONS

Upon completion of payment, you will receive a payment confirmation by email. You will also find a registration confirmation on the website that will include event-specific details. Go to your Member Home and click on My Events under the black bar at the top of the page. All events you have registered will be displayed on this page. If there are additional meeting details (i.e. Zoom links for virtual events or materials required for the event), this information will be found under the green Meeting Info button.

About Larissa

Larissa Brown is a multi-faceted artist whose creative talents spans many industries. She worked as an Animation artist for Nickelodeon's The Rugrats and has illustrated almost a dozen books for Nickelodeon's licensed properties, including Avatar the Last Airbender. Her debut graphic novel, Blake Laser, published by Harper Collins Is a 24th-century science fantasy about a biracial girl who must save the planet from aliens. She has taught art and comics to folks at Cartoon Network, Google and LinkedIn. Her educational company, OC Art Studios, has reached thousands of children and adults all over the world. During the pandemic, she created an online community of BIPOC art students and partnered with Twitter to offer over 500 full scholarships to hopeful animation and illustration artists. She spends most of her time teaching art at colleges and universities in Orange County and currently works as a Disney Fine artist. Her work can be seen in galleries at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. Larissa’s favorite color is yellow because it symbolizes joy, which she loves to share through warm hugs. She also loves to dance, though she keeps her singing to herself.

  • For Portfolios: Please send six portfolio-ready illustrations .jpg, .png or PDF file (5 MB max).
  • For PB dummies: Please send 1 dummy .jpg, .png or PDF file (5 MB max).
  • For Illustrated Graphic Novel Sample Pages: send up to 10 illustrated pages of your manuscript and a one-page, single-spaced synopsis (in the same document) .jpg, .png or PDF file (5 MB max).
