May Meeting: Exploring Kidlit Nonfiction with Angela Turner

If you mainly write fiction, have you ever considered writing nonfiction stories for kids?  Kidlit nonfiction has evolved over the past decade.  During this presentation we will look at the five sub-genres of kidlit nonfiction, look at examples of recently published kidlit nonfiction for the trade market and discuss the ins and outs of writing nonfiction.

About Our Guest Speaker

Angela Turner has been a science teacher in the classroom for over thirty years teaching students from fifth grade through most of the science courses of high school.  Sharing her love of science and nature gives her joy so now she is working to share science stories with children through picture books. So far she has published an article in ASK magazine and some stories in Step Up To STAAR test prep materials.  You can find her at www.angelaturner.org.
