Q: Who may attend Letters & Lines?

A: Only adults 18 and over who have registered and paid for the conference may attend. No friends or family may accompany an attendee to conference events without also being a registered participant of the conference.

Q: What should I wear?

A: We are a relaxed group, but we’re also professionals. Be comfortable, but also be prepared to meet editors and agents.

Q: What time does the conference start? It’s a little confusing with the optional intensive sessions first thing in the morning. 

A: The conference begins at 9:50 am both Saturday and Sunday. If you don’t choose to add an optional intensive session, please arrive between 9:05-9:35 to check in at the registration desk and get your name tag. The optional intensive sessions go from 8:00-9:30am, so if you sign up for an intensive, please arrive between 7:15-7:45am to check in at the registration desk and get settled before 8:00.

Q: It looks like the conference will be in two adjacent buildings this year. Where do I go for registration?

A: Registration will be at The Green Center. Keynotes, panels, and the Book Birthday Bash will be at the Green Center as well. Breakout sessions, optional intensives, and critiques will be next door in Marquez Hall. It is a very short walk between the two buildings, and we have built travel time into the schedule. There are elevators in both buildings.

Q: What's the parking situation?

A: Please see the parking map. Any of the blue lots and the blue parking garage will be open and free on the weekend. There are multiple options close to the Green Center and Marquez Hall, located at the intersection of 16th Street and Arapahoe.

Q: Will there be a shuttle from the hotel to Colorado School of Mines?

A: No, we do not have shuttle service available this year. We encourage attendees staying at the hotel to carpool with their own vehicles and/or with ride services.

Q: Am I committing to attending the breakout sessions I choose when I register? What if I change my mind and would like to attend different breakout sessions? 

A: We will use the numbers from registration to estimate the room sizes we will need for the breakout sessions. But on the day of the session, participants will be able to choose any breakout sessions, even ones they did not “register” for. Be aware that not all rooms have the same capacity for seating. If a room fills up, you may need to be prepared with a second choice to attend instead. Note: Breakout sessions are different from the optional intensive sessions. We will take attendance at the intensives, and only attendees who register for each specific intensive will be able to attend. You will not be able to change your mind and attend a different intensive than the one you register and pay for. 

Q: What if, after a session has started, I realize it's not the right fit for me?

A: No worries. Please be discreet as you leave, being sure to gently open and close the door as you exit. Also, remember that the session you switch to has also started and use the same discretion as you enter. Some attendees will be coming and going mid-session for their one-on-one critique sessions, so some movement will be expected. 

Q: Are any meals included in my registration fee? 

A: Lunch and beverages will be provided both Saturday and Sunday for all attendees. A light dessert will be offered during our Book Birthday Bash on Saturday afternoon. Catering services will be provided by Organic Roots. We encourage attendees to bring a water bottle.

Q: Can I register for more than one critique?

A: Due to the limited number of critiques available, we can only offer one critique per person at the time of registration. Watch your email though. Last year we did end up having space for registrants to sign up for an additional critique as we got closer to the critique deadline. We will send out an email to registrants if this happens again. 

Q: Can I reschedule my manuscript or portfolio critique?

A: Unfortunately, no. If you are worried about your in-person manuscript critique conflicting with any of the sessions, remember that you may select a written-only manuscript critique and then you don’t have to worry about missing a minute of the conference! No critiques will be scheduled during meals or keynotes. You will receive the date and time of your critique appointment the week of the conference.

Q: Can I cancel my registration or critique?

A: Please see our refund policy at the bottom of the Schedule and Pricing page. 

Q: Can I sell my book at the conference?

A: Each attendee who registers and submits the required form(s) before September 4th has the option of having one of their own books carried at the conference bookstore, managed by Boulder Bookstore. More information will be emailed once you have registered. 

Q: It looks like I can purchase one RMC calendar as a part of my registration. What if I would like to purchase more than one? 

A: If you would like to purchase more than one calendar, there will be an option to do so in the email you receive once you have registered. We will also have calendars available for purchase in the bookstore during the conference, although the price will be slightly higher.

Q: Is there a place I can store my luggage on Sunday? 

A: Yes, we will have a space for luggage storage on Sunday. Ask for directions at the registration desk.
