The Intersection of Story, Product Design, Illustration and Branding with Author and Illustrator, Micah Player

May 17, 2026

Online event

Let's talk about storytelling and building connections with the people who enjoy what we do. Every line we draw, every sentence we write, everything we make is an opportunity to build relationships with our audience. The things we get "wrong", the little imperfections, are a window into the only thing we have to offer in a crowded market: ourselves. Q&A will follow the presentation and interview. This event will be recorded.

About Micah Player:

Micah Player is an author and illustrator of books and games, represented by Lori Nowicki at Painted Words. He studied Graphic Design at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City before moving to Southern California to work in the apparel industry. His first picture book, “Chloe, Instead” was published by Chronicle Books in 2012. Since then, he's had the good fortune of working with Simon & Schuster, American Girl, Paul Frank Industries, The Land of Nod, Penguin Random House, Harper Kids, Schwartz & Wade, Roaring Brook, Little Bee Books, Hippo Park, Houghton Mifflin and a bunch of other rad places. His evolving style incorporates rich digital color, washy textures, sharp mid-century inspired shapes and expressive handlettering. He has a fanatical belief in the power of visual stories to connect people. He lives with his family in a little house beneath a big tree in the mountains of Utah.
