Inventing Wonder, Creating Hope

  • Where: Wingspan Event & Conference Center: 801 NE 34th Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124
  • When: May 30th, 2026 from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Check-in begins at 8:30 am.
  • Transportation: Parking at the Wingspan is free for our event! If you want to travel by MAX, get off at the Washington County Fair Grounds in Hillsboro and walk directly across the parking lot to the Wingspan's front doors.
  • Registration for standard members at the early bird price of $135 opens Saturday, March 7th and ends Friday, March 13th.
  • Registration for standard members at the regular price of $160, and preview members for $190, begins Saturday, March 14th.
  • Written critiques for manuscripts and portfolios cost an additional $55 and written critiques for dummies cost an additional $70. Critiques will be emailed to you after the conference.
  • Participants for the First Page and First Look sessions can sign up during registration. There are only 10 spots guaranteed for each session. Please sign up ONLY if you are certain you can be prepared.
  • Morning coffee, tea, and lunch are included with registration. We recommend you bring a refillable water bottle.
  • Cancellation policy: Full refunds, minus a $15 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations before May 10, 2026. After May 10th, refunds may be given for emergencies, at the discretion of the Regional Advisor.
  • No refunds will be given for Written Critique fees, as that money goes directly to the faculty.
  • To check your registration details, go to SCBWI.org > Member Home > My Events.
  • Our Schedule won't be printed out the day of the event. Instead, QR codes will be available to scan for the full schedule. A few copies will be posted around the room for easy reference.
  • Visit the Sell Your Book page if you would like information on how to sell copies of one of your books at the conference.
  • By registering for this conference, you agree to the SCBWI anti-harassment policy, below.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. SCBWI reserves the right to require anyone not complying with the above to depart from any event at which any such activity has been perpetrated and to bar them from future SCBWI events.
