Portfolio Review Day with agent Judy Sue Goodwin Sturges

Nebraska Region has a fantastic opportunity for illustrators! Want personalized one-on-one feed-back from a top-notch industry agent on the strengths and marketability of your work? Then roll up your creative sleeves, because this event is for you.

Artists’ agent and RISD professor Judy Sue Goodwin Sturges will provide a 20-minute Zoom critique of each participating illustrator’s portfolio. Focus will be hands-on with pointers on playing to your strengths as a visual storyteller for children’s publishing. As a follow up to the critique, Judy Sue will offer each illustrator an assignment prompt for further feed-back. 

The 20-minute critiques will be scheduled throughout our event day, Saturday, June 8. We will email your meeting time after registration closes on May 31st or all seats fill, whichever comes first.

Meet Judy Sue Goodwin Sturges

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Judy Sue Goodwin Sturges has worked in the art departments of Hallmark and Ginn & Co. and designed books for Houghton Mifflin and other Boston-based publishers. She is a longtime Professor of Illustration at RISD and spent several wonderful years as Chief Critic of the European Honors Program in Rome. In 1989, Judy Sue started her own children's book Studio in Boston; Studio Goodwin Sturges, now located in Providence, RI, works on behalf of nearly 40 picture book artists worldwide. In addition to representing book creators and continuing her teaching at RISD, Judy Sue is a picture book author and a collage artist who uses handmade papers and repurposed vintage materials to explore ideas of ecology, geography, and connectivity in her work.

•Judy Sue will look over your PDF portfolio before your review on Saturday, June 8

•During your review on Saturday, June 8, you will screen-share your PDF portfolio with Judy Sue

Portfolio Review Follow-up Instructions

•Judy Sue will leave you with an assignment at the end of your session.

•Complete the assignment, if desired, in your own time.

•When you are ready, send your piece to Judy Sue at info@studiogoodwinsturges.com

•File format: JPG, 200ppi, no larger than 5MB

•Judy Sue will reach out to you with one additional round of feedback.
